stall

If you’re currently stressing over bunting, tea cakes and coffee cups then take some solace in the recognition that you’re not alone.

Fairs, whether school or otherwise, are a stressful business. It can mean hours of baking, decorating and organising in the lead up to the big day.

But what is the blueprint for the perfect Christmas stall? Here are some ideas that can help you in your journey through the festive fair season.

Show Off Your Product

Nothing advertises better than the product itself. Whether it’s a set of candles, chocolates or simply knick-knacks from around the house, it’s important to ensure that your goods are looking sharp at all times.

If you’re selling baked goods (a personal favourite of ours), you may want to invest in some block bottom cellophane bags that will remain standing and looking fresh for the hours that you’ll spend selling off your stock.

It may not seem like much, but people do judge a book by its cover so just remember to put presentation at the top of your priorities.

Crank Up the Colour

Almost as if we’re magpies, people are attracted to colour coordination.

We don’t mean lime greens, highlighter yellows or garish patterns, but rather warm and comforting patterns that will make those Christmas shoppers get that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Believe it or not, it’s actually pretty easy to match your packaging to your stall’s theme too. Most packaging companies sell film bags in bulk which can be easily adorned with festive designs and colours.

Such a small investment can really help your stall stand out against a convoluted backdrop, and in the competitive world of Christmas fairs, it’s worth adding that little bit extra to your set up.

Keep It Fresh

If your stall is food focused, then keeping it looking fresh should be up there with your top priorities.

Baked goods are particularly susceptible to looking stale quickly, especially if there are customers freely moving the stock around to pick and choose what they want.

If you’re stumped on how to keep your hard work looking like it just popped out of the oven, it may be worth pre-packing the items to avoid greasy fingers disturbing your icing.

Film bags are usually the best option for this as they allow the option of standing the stock upwards, and the translucency of the plastic allows for optimum viewing, but avoids the issue of curious fingers and thumbs.

Send Out the Tasters

If you’re trying out an unusual recipe that you’re worried may seem a little bit too ‘out there’ for your traditional Christmas fair, then don’t hesitate to send out your family members with a plate of irresistible samples to prove to the tastiness of your treats.

There’ll no doubt be dozens of other stalls that will be selling a variation of the same product, so it can be tough to ensure that customers still find your stall in amongst the crowd of others.

Tasters are a great way of both attracting customers to a specific product, and letting people know that you’re there. Plus, everyone loves a freebie!

Invest in Some Branding

Whether you’re an amateur fair goer or a seasoned professional, branding your baking is an easy way to get your name out there.

While it’s easy to assume that branding is reserved for big companies, it’s actually a pretty straightforward process.

All you need to do is talk to a packaging company and they’ll do most of the work for you. It’ll add a degree of professionalism to your stall without causing you a lot of extra cost or time commitment.
